start of message -january 13th 2024-

hello everyone, i have been following the herobrine investigations thread for a while now, and i decided to make something like it.
though the herobrine investigations focusses on an singular entity, i plan to focus on an entire game, that beeing yume nikki.

yume nikki was created by a single person on rpg maker, however it doesn't have the normal rpg style gameplay, this game is more akkined to a walking simulator where you go through various dreamscapes. this game doesn't have an objective per say, it is a more exploratory game than everything.

so this thread will be cattaloging anything i find.

game start

when opening the game and after the credits, this is the title screen...

and the title, wich i can't read whats on top, perhaps it's only an logo, or the font is so squigly i cannot read.

after pressing new game

we are greeted with this...

an explanation on effencts (i will go through them later)
and an tutorial on how to save (i didn't screenshot that)

after this tutorial the game opens up to an room "our" room.

an simple, yet un cared for room, this is the protagonists room, the only place in the real world you can be in. you cannot leave this place and whenever you try to interact with the door the protagonist nods in a negative way and walks back into their room.

but this isn't the worst place in the world, after all you got everything you need in here.

the famtendo only has one game...

this simple arcade game is about controling a red fella to goble up vegetables that fall from the top of the screen...
but this is only a simple diversion, after a while it gets booring...

it's curently night though, and doesn't seem like there are any other buildings around either...

you also have an desk. for some reason the "limelight" effect makes my computer lag a bunch, thank goodness this effect is only reliquished for some parts of the game.

creating an save reveals the name for our protagonist...

madotsuki, i have researched her name (madotsuki IS a girl) and aparently [窓付き] is how you call an window or an apperture (acording to jisho.com).
the E simbol refers to Effects, in the moment we only have one, wich lets us see the tutorial... again... its not usefull.
the heart simbol is a mistery to me... maybe we will figure it out has we go. (also if you know don't spoil it)

after that this is the last thing we can interact with in the real world.

now... let's get a good night's rest...

when acomodating aourselves on madotsuki's bed, an counter will start at the top of the screen, after all... it always takes us a little time to sleep...

first dream

every time we sleep we are greeted with madotsuki's "lookout" but something is different, we are closer to the ground here, and also there are no clouds in the sky, nor a moon.

when entering madotsuki's room it's different...

guess NAZO is such an underwelming game it doesn't even appear in madotsuki's subcontiuss.

oh... hello.' the screen flickers betwen white noise and an eye.

interacting with madotsuki's desk doesn't make the limelight effect... however you can moove around while on the chair...

the moovement speed with this thing is tremendously slow... doesn't sound like an helpfull feature... but it has a glich when paired up with a certain effect.

interacting with the bed doesn't do anything,the most it does is let you on it and nothing else.

but now let's get out of this place... and into the dream nexus we go...

by exiting through madotsuki's door, we enter a room with many doors, in a circular pattern. going through one of theese doors will show us an different dream.

thanks to "cultural osmosis" i know the place where the "bike" effect is, that beeing the most important effect of the entire game.

i call this dream the "deepfried doodles realm". pretty fraky place.

each one of the doodles makes an different noise when stepped on.

when entering this place, and by going straight to the left you will eventually find an bike.

when interacted with...
it will unlock...
the bike effect...

when opening the menu by pressing esc.

and opening the effects menu...
you can see all the effects you have gathered.

and by selectingthe bike effect, you will equip it...

yesss.

madotsuki's normal speed is... ok i guess, however to explore the large spaces within the dreamscapes, it's the worst thing to go through...
however the bike effect doubles the movement speed, making it the effect you will always have equipped.

i also took a picture of the background immage...

i took the bike to a drive test, and saw a trail of the deepfried doodles.
in the end of it i found...

i can't interact with it while on the bike...

when i unnequiped the bike and interacted with it.

madotsuki went in>closed the door>and then an flushing sound happened.
and then madotsuki lgot out...
nothing more after that.

i went out exploring the "deepfried doodle realm" and discovered it was relativally small.
but it felt so huge because it looped from up to down and from left to right.

theese are the things i found in this little journey...

I don't get involved with creepy games because creepy hunters don't do that unless you have specail training but I'm glad your doing this I guess

hello everyone, this will be the second entry on this journal.

however before we begin this i will be answering an question, from @xXdevilish_imp420Xx .

about the software i'm using... i'm not really sure... the computer i'm using is custom made by me and my sister, the OS came with one of the parts we used, so i don't know the name, but it works exacly like windows.

that aside let's begin...
